Giovanni Vallone: The Sicily writer on the motorbike

Giovanni Vallone, the writer on the motorbike, as he has been defined by the press, was born in Palermo on the 20th of September 1965.

He has decided to dedicate his whole existence to the biggest island of the Mediterranean by exploring it continuously and involving Sicilian and non-Sicilian tourists to discover it.

This because as he says: “Sicily is the perfect bride. Because art never deceives. And it is also rich….”
Giovanni is our head guide and at the moment our President too.
Visiting Sicily with him as a guide means visiting Sicily in a real sense.

- He has got a degree in Natural Sciences and is the author of:
Arance e Limoni (Bonanno, Acireale-Roma 2002)
I Castelli della Sicilia (Newton e Compton, Roma 2005).
Angelo e le Aquile (Cavallotto, Catania 2005).

He is actually working on I Palazzi storici della Sicilia.

- In 2003 he worked on a huge project on behalf of the Assessorato Turismo of the Sicilian Region. More than 50 itineraries under the title of Altra Sicilia for tourists from all over the world. There are different kind of itineraries: by bike, by train, by local bus, by motorbike through the least known areas of Sicily. And therefore the press started calling him the Sicilian “Marco Polo”.

- Giovanni is testimonial of nature in Sicily on behalf of.

Giovanni Vallone was the first to reach the top of the volcano by motorbike. The event was possible thanks to the Etna Park, great sponsor of the writer's projects.

- Vallone takes care of the Sicilian cartography updating it for several publishing houses. For the De Agostini he updated the city map of Catania and the regional cartography.

- He participated several among them in 2006 the prestigious one in Turin (with “Angelo and the eagles”)

- In May 2007 "Baciamo Le Voci , a journey inside the soul of the Sicilians" a radio programme on behalf of broadcasted from the 15th to the 25th of May. “This has been the most rewarding project ever”, Giovanni said during the press conference. Nine episodes dedicated to his Sicilians, shepherds, farmers, grandmothers and grandfathers…who filled a magical cardboard box of Sicily. The radio programme has been one of the most valued in the whole Rai radio broadcast.

He is now working on “Chiacchere di Trinacria”, Sicilian tales of the past but still floating on air (and in the thoughts)

- On January 2008 he has been rewarded from the people of the same area: the writer has been the sponsor of the constituted ProLoco in Nissoria, a small inland village on the Erei Mounts. “It’s a great joy having been chosen to be the sponsor. It’s the most romantic thing ever happened to me that of opening officially an inland ProLoco, it’s a reward to my activity. For me Nissoria right now is like a daughter”

- On February 2008, after having been working on it several months, he brought a series of itineraries about the Sicilian inland created by the writer on the motorbike on behalf of the Tour Operator “Slam Tour”. These itineraries have been called piZZicoZZi tours and this has been possible thanks to the synergy between Vallone and the ambassadors of the association Il CoNsole. “This the first time that the Sicilian inland is showed to the world. A big bet created by our important inland explorer” said Daniele Sciuto leader of the Slam Tour during the press conference.
